Description
The barn range at Farrow's Farm, located 30 metres west of No 4 (the farmhouse), dates from the 15th to 16th centuries at its southern end, with a large barn added in 1687 to the north. The large barn features 17th-century white brick walls and a 20th-century corrugated iron roof. It has a central half-hipped cart entrance on the east side, with narrow slit ventilators positioned in the upper part of the walls. The interior consists of five bays, including four original tie beams, with the central two beams supporting king posts that have diagonal struts extending to the purlins. One of the beams is inscribed with 'This barn wass buil(t....) 1687'. The southern part of the barn is timber-framed with weatherboarded walls and a lower pitched roof, also comprising five bays, alongside a narrower two-bay range to the south. Both sections feature heavy wall posts and studs, with the northern part displaying curved wall braces on the west side.
