Description

The London Lodges East and West, located at Wrotham Park, are a pair of entrance lodges dating from the early 19th century, with extensions added in the late 20th century. They are constructed from Portland stone and feature slate roofs. The lodges consist of two small square blocks that are connected by railings and two gate piers, all arranged in a regular layout. Each lodge has a round-headed glazing bar sash window set within a large relieving arch on all faces except the rear. The corners are accentuated with quoins, and there is a heavy string course at the impost level. The eaves are deep, and the roofs are pyramidal with small central stacks. The gate piers are heavily quoined, featuring a block below the necking and a pronounced cornice with pyramidal tops. The railings are adorned with spearhead finials. Both lodges are connected to large brick extensions at the rear, which are not of special interest. The interiors have not been inspected.
