Description
TQ 29 NW/TQ 29 NE POTTERS BAR WROTHAM PARK Barnet 8/238, 9/238 London Lodges, East and 20.5.49 West, with Gate Piers and Railings (formerly listed as East Lodge, Wrotham Park under General) - II
Pair of entrance lodges to Wrotham Park (q.v.). Early C19, extended late C20. Portland stone, slate roofs. 2 small square blocks linked by railings and 2 piers, all regularly spaced in one plane. On each face except to rear a round headed glazing bar sash in a large relieving arch. Quoins at corners and a heavy string course at impost level. Deep eaves. Pyramidal roofs with small central stacks. Piers are heavily quoined with a block below necking and a heavy cornice, pyramidal heads. Spear heads to railings. Both lodges are linked to large brick rear extensions not of special interest. Interiors not inspected.
