Description
The North Lodges of Beckenham Place are a pair of late 18th century lodges located on Beckenham Hill Road, flanking the drive. Each lodge was originally a single storey with one window. The south-east lodge has been altered to include an upper storey and a south wing. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble masonry, featuring ashlar alternating rusticated quoins.
The west lodge has a moulded stone eaves cornice and a low-pitched, pyramidal slated roof with a central chimney. It includes one round-headed sash window with glazing bars set in a keyed, round-arched recess. An attic storey was added to the west lodge, built in similar materials, and has a high-pitched, slated roof with Dutch gable ends. The attic window resembles the ground floor window but lacks the recess. There is also a stuccoed wing that features a similar window. The entrances are located on the returns, with doors consisting of six flat panels and a blocked fanlight, echoing the arch shape of the windows.
