Description

The Duty Stone is a boundary marker located on the northeast side of Cranborne Road in Potters Bar, dating from 1851. This City of London Coal Duty Boundary Marker is made of ashlar and stands about 4 meters tall. It features an obelisk shape on a tapered base, complete with a plinth and cornice. The west face of the obelisk displays the City of London crest in relief, while the north face of the base is incised with '14 and 15 VIC/C146'. The stone is situated on the eastern side of the main line railway embankment, near the golf course.
