Description

The barns, dating to the late 17th to early 18th century, are located about 70 metres northwest of Salisbury Hall. They consist of two attached barns and a tack room. The barns have timber frames resting on rendered brick bases and are clad in weatherboarding, with tiled roofs. The larger barn is taller and has five bays, while the barn to the north is smaller with four bays, both featuring gabled threshing bays facing the yard. The larger barn has a steeper roof pitch. Inside the larger barn are tenoned purlins with later bracing struts springing from straight tie beams, along with curved braces from lightly jowled wall posts. Original studding and bracing are retained within the timber framing. The smaller barn is similar in construction but of a coarser quality. A low, 18th-century brick tack room extends to the south, also with a tiled roof.
