Description
Pentlows Farm is a farmhouse located in Braughing village, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The structure features a timber frame that is plastered, with painted gault brick on the east gable, porch, and north extension. It has steep roofs covered in old red tiles. The house likely follows a three-unit, lobby-entry layout with a central chimney, facing south, and includes a short rear service wing at the northwest. The rear wing has been extended, and a new entrance porch has been added on the north side at the angle of the wings, along with new windows from the 19th century. The windows are cast iron lattice casements. The east gable is constructed with diagonal buttresses, has moulded corbels at the gable parapet, and features a central projecting chimney with a corbelled and panelled gault brick head and moulded offsets. There is a similar gable lean-to porch at the angle of the wings. The south front has four windows, including two rectangular bay windows with lean-to roofs, and a glazed door positioned between them beside the large central chimney.
