Description
Nos 2 and 4 Drury Lane are a block of two houses dating from the early 18th century. They are timber-framed and roughcast, topped with a steep old red tile hipped roof. The building is a tall rectangular block consisting of two similar two-storey houses that share a central red brick chimney. Each house features two windows on each floor and a central plank door, which is sheltered by a lean-to tiled canopy. There is a single-storey rear lean-to addition. The windows are two-light wooden casements, with No 2 on the right having diamond leaded glazing. Inside, there is a large heated room on the ground floor, along with a narrow end room that contains the staircase. There is a modern rear wing added to No 2, which is not of special interest. This historic block of timber-framed plastered houses has seen little alteration and is part of a picturesque group around the pump at the centre of the village Conservation Area.
