Description
Netherhall is a mid-19th century house located on the west side of High Street in Hunsdon village. The building features polychrome yellow and red brickwork that has been painted white, except for the chimney, which remains unpainted. It has a hipped slate roof and is two stories tall with a symmetrical façade that includes three windows facing east. The house has a double-pile, double-fronted plan, with the chimney located on the southern half.
Notable architectural details include a plinth and ovolo moulded eaves course at the boxed eaves. The recessed sash windows are set under flat arches, with 8/8 panes in most windows, while the central window above the door has 6/6 panes. The entrance features a six-panel door with radial glazing bars in a rectangular fanlight, framed by a Tuscan pilastered wooden doorcase that has a full entablature and a triangular pediment.
To the left of the main house is a two-story coach-house with a parapet, which has a sash window above the half-glazed recessed double doors. Netherhall remains largely unaltered and is an important part of a mixed group of picturesque older houses in this area of the Conservation Area, contributing to its overall character and group value.
