Description
No. 48 West Street is an 18th-century house that features a timber frame with stucco and masonry lining, along with a projecting plinth. The roof is tiled and has a gable facing the street. A central red brick chimneystack, adorned with a band and four tall orange clay pots, is a notable feature.
The house has two storeys and attics above a cellar, designed with a two-cell lobby entry plan. On the first floor, there is a three-light wood casement window, with a smaller two-light attic casement above it. The ground floor has a central door and a two-light divided casement window to the right, both sheltered by a weatherboard hood. There is a step and threshold leading to the ground-floor level.
On the left (west) side of the house, the elevation includes two two-light wood casement windows with divided glazing on both the first and ground floors. A central 20th-century door is raised three steps above ground level. Additionally, there is a cellar door located in the plinth to the left, beneath the ground-floor window. The interior has not been inspected.
