Description
No. 2 and 2A Baldock Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the 17th century or earlier and was refronted in the 18th century, with alterations and a rebuilt rear section in the mid-19th century. The building features a timber frame with stucco facing and masonry lining. It has two storeys and attics, a wooden cornice, and an old tiled roof at the front, which includes two box casement dormers. The rear has a Welsh slated roof, creating a double pile formation.
A central yellow brick chimneystack from the 19th century has four square, tapered pots in an Egyptian pattern. The first floor has two flush set sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has three. The entrance features a six-fielded panel door with raised surrounds, set in a reveal with an architrave surround, topped with a cut bracketed hood and a dentilled cornice.
Inside, the first floor front room showcases wood panelling with bolection mouldings, a wood cornice, and a fireplace surround, all dating from the mid-18th century.
