Description
This is a barn located at Amwell Place Farm, built in the early 18th century, which incorporates older timbers. The structure features a timber frame resting on a low brick sill and is covered in dark weatherboarding with steeply pitched roofs made of old red tiles. There is a lean-to extension at the northeast with a pantile roof. The barn consists of four bays facing east, with a gabled projecting porch in the second bay from the south and opposed double doors. It has unjowled posts, straight braces supporting the tie-beams, and a clasped-purlin roof with a single purlin on each roof slope. Inside, there is a paved threshing floor in the bay with the porch, and the two northern bays have been adapted for use as a byre.
