Description

The Old Crown Inn and Bakers Cross (north) is a late 17th century timber-frame house, now divided into two properties. It has undergone significant alterations and has been extended to the south. The walls are plastered with some exposed timber framing, and the roof is covered with slate and old tiles. The building is two storeys and forms an L-shaped layout. The northern part, known as Bakers Cross, retains more of its original features. The first floor has exposed timber framing with modern pargetting, and modern sash and casement windows. The interior reveals exposed framing. The rear elevation is notably good, displaying half-timbered construction with long diagonal braces. The Old Crown section has modern leaded casements to the front and a bracketed, moulded door hood on the north side.
