Description
Mardocks is a house located on the B1004, 130 metres east of the War Memorial in Wareside. It dates from the early 18th century, with a west wing added in the 19th century that was used as a schoolroom. The house is likely timber-framed and is covered with roughcast, featuring a smooth plaster plinth and old red tile roofs.
It is a compact two-storey building with a cellar and attic, facing north. The front is symmetrical with three windows, while the lower west wing on the right has one ground floor window. The windows are boxed sash style, slightly recessed, with six-over-six panes. The central door, from the early 19th century, has four panels and is set in a doorcase with a fanlight and a flat moulded hood supported by shaped brackets.
The house has brick gable parapets and a projecting former west gable chimney. At the southeast corner, there is a large red brick corner chimney. On the west end, there is a hollow-chamfered two-light Gothic window on the upper floor. The building has also served as a school at some point in its history.
