Description
Hall Cottages, located on the east side of High Street in Much Hadham village, is a cottage range dating from the early 17th century. The building was refronted in the 19th to 20th centuries, during which a lower, two-storey block was added to the south end. The exterior features painted plaster and brick, topped with an old tile roof that has a central red brick stack. The main range consists of two cottages with four windows, each fitted with plain three-light casements. The south ground floor has been bricked forward, featuring a window and door set in arches. Inside, the cottages showcase heavy oak crossbeams that are chamfered and stopped. The plain two-window south extension is roughcast with a weatherboarded plinth, while the painted brick south gable end is adorned with an ornate pierced bargeboard.
