Description
No 54 High Street is a house dating from the 16th century, originally a one-bay timber-framed structure, with an early 19th-century red brick gable end facing the street. It features a steeply pitched old tile roof and stands two storeys tall. The north front is weatherboarded and has a central early 19th-century door with a reeded surround and a flat hood supported by consoles. The windows on both the ground and first floors are leaded casements, while the street front includes an 8/8 sash window on the ground floor and a 6/6 sash window on the first floor. There is an early 20th-century shop front with large horizontal sash windows set within a 17th-century timber frame, along with a lean-to addition on the south side. At the rear, there is a higher roofed extension. Inside, the house retains substantial exposed timber frame walls and partitions.
