Description

Four houses, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the 19th century, stand on the east side of Standon High Street. They are timber-framed with plaster infill, featuring a plinth, bracketed eaves, and a steep roof covered in old red tiles. The houses are two storeys high, with six windows on the upper floor. They have flush box sash windows with moulded surrounds and originally 8/8 panes, although No. 45 now has 2/2 panes. Nos. 45 and 49 have canted casement oriel windows on the ground floor. Each house has a panelled front door, approached by two steps and set within a moulded surround with an entablature. The doors are topped by a plain frieze and a flat hood supported on shaped brackets. A large double door provides access to a carriageway located between Nos. 45 and 47.
