Description

Little Meadow is a house dating to circa 1700, with a rear kitchen from the 18th century and renovations from the early 19th century. The west end was heightened to two storeys in the 1950s. It is timber-framed with a stucco sill, roughcast render and black weatherboarding to the east end and ground floor of the rear wing. The house has a steep red pantile roof. The main house, facing south, has a three-cell plan with a door positioned a third from the east end, and two rear wall chimneys. It features three windows on each floor and a gabled pantiled porch accessed by six steps. The windows are three-light flush wood casements with louvred shutters, and the front door is a four-panel flush beaded design.

Inside, the house retains exposed timbers, including chamfered axial beams and squared joists. There is an open fire and a bread oven in the kitchen. Other original features include a plank door with old iron hinges, an 18th-century corner cupboard with raised and fielded panels, a dentil cornice, H-hinges, and a staircase opposite the entrance. The roof structure includes clasped purlins. A corner cupboard in the parlour incorporates raised and fielded panels, a dentil cornice and H-hinges. The house was once known as Chapman's Farm.
