Description

Dellow Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber frame set on a stucco sill and is covered with a half-hipped thatch roof. The building is 1 ½ storeys high and has a three-cell internal chimney plan, facing east with its north gable end towards the street. A red brick chimney is located a third of the way from the north end. The east front has three windows and three dormers at the eaves, all with flush casement windows. There is a glazed door with a pantiled porch at the southeast corner. The north end has one window on each floor, both of which are two-light, small-paned casements, with the lower window featuring external shutters. The cottage was associated with the Dellow family, who were the millers of Hormead from around 1780 to 1857.
