Description
Homeside is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with references to its existence in 1682, and it was renovated in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, with parts that have a weatherboarded apron. It has a half-hipped thatched roof, although red tiles are used around the front dormers, the front porch, and a slated lean-to on the west side.
The house is 1 ½ stories tall and has a three-cell internal-chimney, lobby-entry plan, facing south. The chimney is located a third of the way from the west end, with a gabled dormer at the eaves on each side of the chimney. There are two three-light casement windows, with similar casements in the dormers above. The entrance features a six-panel flush beaded door set in a rustic gabled open porch.
Inside, the house includes a large open fireplace, axial beams, and a rear-wall chimney that has been added to the room at the east end.
