Description
Green Tye Farm House is a house dating from the mid to late 16th century. It is timber-framed, featuring a west bay that dates to around 1600 and a mid-17th century chimneystack. The house is weatherboarded up to the sill level on the west bay and the entire west gable end, with plastered sections. It has an old tile roof topped with a red brick stack that has four conjoined diagonal shafts located towards the west. The building is two storeys high and has a continuous jetty along the long south front facing the road.
Most windows have been replaced with modern casements, except for the one above the door beneath the stack, which is a 17th-century, three-light, mullioned, oak casement. The house consists of four bays, and the eastern room is said to retain diamond mullioned windows, one of which has interior sliding shutters, along with a 17th-century staircase. The chimney features two fireplaces on the first floor, with diamond mullioned windows located behind these on the rear side. Additionally, there is a moulded 17th-century door surround.
