Description

HERTINGFORDBURY BIRCH GREEN TL 21 SE (East side) 5/44 No. 35 - (The Old Curatage) - II

House. Mid C17, extended mid C19, later alterations. Timber frame, largely rendered, some weatherboarding. Steeply pitched tiled roof. Originally a 2 cell lobby entry plan with stair wing and pantry to rear. 2 storeys and attic. To front pargetting with a weatherboarded dado, original entrance to centre blocked, above a 2 light small pane flush frame casement. Outer bays have similar 3 light casements. Central ridge stack with 6 clustered diagonally set shafts, rebuilt. Left gable end has exposed panel framing over ground floor whitewashed brick. Jowled posts, braces. Catslide roof over lean-to pantry to rear left with a horizontal sliding sash. Stair wing to rear centre has C19 stock brick external gable end stack. Stuccoed right gable end has casements, plat band. A later projecting gabled porch where main range meets a C19 rear wing with recessed sashes. Extending from pantry to left is a C20 weatherboarded outshut with an entrance. Interior: stop chamfered binding beams. (RCHM Typescript).
