Description

Everett Hall is a house dating to circa 1840. The front facade is grey brick, while the sides and kitchen wing are red brick. It has steep red tiled roofs hidden behind a front parapet which rises into two gables, with stone coping. Constructed on a double pile plan, it features side chimneys, a central stair at the rear, and a kitchen block on the southwest side. The house is two storeys high, with a symmetrical front facing east and three windows. It is set back slightly from the road. Small recessed panels are located in each gable. On the front are three double-height broad recessed panels, the central one being narrower. Tall, recessed cross-windows are set in chamfered openings with segmental arched heads. A central gabled glazed porch shelters a round arched central doorway, which is framed by two recessed chamfered orders. The front door and five interior doors are early 18th century, consisting of eight-panel fielded and moulded doors, as noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (RCHM) records from 1911. The kitchen features scratch moulded early 17th century panelling used as a dado. Stained glass with grotesque roundels is set in the stair window and rear door. The building is included on the list for its group value.
