Old Hall Green TL 32 SE STANDON HILL FARM LANE (south side)

1/17 Farmhouse at Hill Farm (along track 90m from lane)

Farmhouse. Late C17. Timber frame plastered with old red tile roofs. 2 storeys and attic, 3 unit, central chimney, lobby entry house facing E with stair in original rear outshut under a catslide roof. Contemporary single-storey outside kitchen in similar construction at right angles at NE corner, now linked to house. Later external gable chimney to house at N end. SW corner of outshut raised to 2 storeys under slate roof in early C19. Small gabled projecting one and a half storeys plastered brick extension in C20 at NW rear corner. Stair to attic rises above front lobby. Large central chimney of kitchen formerly had an oven on the W side. 3 window front with flush box sash windows with glazing bars. Half-glazed panelled door in line with chimney 1/3 from S end. Interior has chamfered axial beams on both floors, exposed square joists in parlour, unjowled posts and thin studs of rear wall exposed on staircase, and a clasped purlin roof. Similar roof to kitchen with queen-strut truss, under the collars.
