Description

The farmhouse at Hill Farm, located along a track 90 meters from the lane, dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is plastered, topped with old red tile roofs. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features a three-unit layout with a central chimney. The lobby entry faces east, and there is a staircase in the original rear outshut, which is covered by a catslide roof.

At the northeast corner, there is a contemporary single-storey outside kitchen built in a similar style, now connected to the main house. A later external gable chimney has been added to the north end of the house. The southwest corner of the outshut was raised to two storeys under a slate roof in the early 19th century. Additionally, there is a small gabled projecting extension made of plastered brick at the northwest rear corner, added in the 20th century.

Inside, the staircase leads to the attic above the front lobby. The large central chimney of the kitchen once had an oven on the west side. The front of the house has three windows with flush box sash windows featuring glazing bars. The half-glazed panelled door is aligned with the chimney, positioned one-third from the south end. The interior showcases chamfered axial beams on both floors, exposed square joists in the parlour, unjowled posts, and thin studs of the rear wall visible on the staircase, along with a clasped purlin roof. The kitchen has a similar roof structure with a queen-strut truss under the collars.
