Description
No 83 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It features an early 18th century brick front that likely covers an earlier timber-frame structure. The left-hand side has a 19th century shopfront. The timber frame is roughcast, while the front is made of fine red brick, topped with a steep old red tile roof. This small two-storey house is of high quality and includes an internal south gable chimney and a door located at the right-hand end of the front. The front displays a floor band and a stuccoed plinth, with two flush-box sash windows on the upper floor that have moulded surrounds and six over six panes. To the left of the door, there is a similar window with a deep gauged brick flat arch. The entrance features a six-panel raised and fielded door, which is accessed by three steps and set within a doorcase that has a moulded eaved surround and a projecting triangular pedimented hood supported by bold shaped trusses with guttae. The left side of the building includes a 19th century shopfront with a fascia and door.
