Description
No 79 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 17th century and was renovated in the late 19th century. The building features a timber frame set on a low stucco sill, with roughcast walls that include panelled fan pargetting. It has steep old red tile roofs. The house is two storeys tall and faces east, with a two-storey slated wing to the northwest and a small gabled wing to the southwest.
The front of the building is nearly symmetrical but offset to the north, featuring a wooden cornice with dentils along the eaves. There are two windows on each floor, with a door in the middle beneath a large name plaque. The windows are three-light projecting casements with small panes, each having dentilled cornices and bracketed sills. The window to the right of the door projects further and has a single pane at the front. The door also has a similar dentilled cornice and a moulded surround. The roof structure is a side-purlin type. This building was formerly known as The Globe Inn.
