Description

This early 19th-century house, now a shop and house, is situated on Buntingford High Street. The building is constructed of red brick to the rear and yellow brick to the front, with a low-pitched slate roof. It is a two-story, double-pile house, symmetrical in its three-window south-facing section, featuring a central doorway and a carriageway to the north with a single window above. A shopfront with a fascia has been inserted to the left of the front door. The windows are recessed sash windows with 6 over 6 panes, featuring plastered reveals and segmental arches. A triple sash window is located to the right of the door. The front door is a 6-panel flush-beaded door, raised two steps, with reeded pilasters and a moulded flat hood supported by brackets. A double door and broad frame mark the entrance to the carriageway. A dummy window, painted, is above the door. The building is included on the list for its group value.
