Description
No 50 High Street is a house that dates from the 16th century but was largely rebuilt in the 18th century, with a late 19th-century brick front. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a red brick front and an old red tile roof that has a bellcast shape at the front. It is a two-storey house with a central chimney and a plan that includes two cells, facing west. There is a narrow through passage at the south end and a one-storey rear wing at the northeast.
The front of the house has two windows with an entrance door located between the ground floor windows, along with a smaller door leading to the passage at the right-hand end. The windows are recessed sash types with 8/8 panes and cambered arches, which are also present above the doors. The main entrance features a six-panel moulded front door that is recessed and framed with moulding. There is a flush frame around the six-panel flush-beaded side door. The 16th-century timber framing in the northeast wall is visible from No 52, and there is a 16th-century double-ogee moulded door jamb in the rear wing.
