Description
No 42 and No 44 High Street is a house that has been converted into two shops and offices. It dates from the early 19th century and features a timber frame resting on a stucco sill, with roughcast walls and a hipped slate roof. The north wall is faced in grey gault brick, which is part of the forecourt of The White House. This two-storey corner building faces west and has three first-floor windows on the west side and two on the south side. It has wide overhanging eaves and flush box sash windows with six-over-six panes, framed by moulded architraves. There are also two 20th-century shop windows on the west side. The building is part of a prominent corner group and is included for its group value.
