Description

The architectural fragments located in the Italian garden at Garden House, 80 meters southeast of the house, date from the mid-19th century and are believed to have originated from Barry's Palace of Westminster. These fragments were brought to this location after being displaced during a Fenian outrage in 1932. They are made of carved freestone and include a large octagonal drum, with each face featuring panelled Gothic arches, resembling the top stone of a pinnacle. On top of this drum is a large pointed octagonal capstone, which has chevron grooving on each face.
