Description

This is a fan-shaped shelter located in the Japanese Garden at Garden House, approximately 40 meters to the east-south-east of the main house. It was built around 1923 to 1926 by S. Kusumoto for Herbert Goode, a wealthy glass and china merchant who started the Japanese Garden in 1905. The shelter is constructed from timber and thatch, featuring six inclined posts that support a fan-shaped conical roof topped with a decorative topknot. Originally, there was a hexagonal curb that enclosed a fountain.
