Description
The boundary and retaining walls, steps, urns, basin, fountain, and gates of the gardens to the south and west fronts of Weston House date from the mid-19th century. The retaining walls are made of rusticated ashlar stone and are arranged in terraces across four levels, descending from the house to a walled, semi-circular lawn to the south, connected by nine sets of parapeted stone steps. The perimeter features balustrading, with a small semi-circular bay to the west and a stepped dais for the Garden House to the east.
On the east front, there is a solid wall with scrolled consoles, moulded dies, and ball finials on the higher abutment against the house, featuring even quoins and a wrought iron gate in the Greek Revival style. Throughout the garden, urns are placed on dies and pedestals, showcasing gadrooned bases and an egg and dart rim. A fountain is located centrally to the west, designed in a quatrefoil shape with putti at the center, and a circular stone basin to the south, which has a coved form with a reeded base, woven papyrus sides, and a cabled rim.
