Description

WATTON-AT-STONE HIGH STREET TL 21 NE (Southwest side) Watton-at-Stone 3/188 Barns about 50m W of 19.6.84 No. 60 (Watton Place) (formerly listed as Barn NW of No. 58) GV II

Two conjoined barns, now used for industrial storage. C18 and C19. Timber frames on stock brick bases. Weatherboarded. Tiled roof. 9 bays. To yard a closed gabled midstrey in 3rd bay from left end with a slate roofed lean-to to left. Gabled midstrey on 3rd bay from right end removed to rear. Interior: earlier end away from road has trusses with arched braces to tie beams, angled queen struts to principals, butt purlins. Later end has angled queen struts clasping lower purlins, collars clasping upper purlins. Tension braces in walling.
