Description
These are two conjoined barns located about 50 meters northeast of the Manor Farm House, dating from the 17th century. They feature timber frames set on brick bases and are weatherboarded, topped with steeply pitched corrugated asbestos roofs. The larger barn consists of two sections, each with six bays, while the slightly smaller barn has five bays and is attached at right angles to the right end of the larger barn. The larger barn has openings in the third bay from the center of each section, with doors positioned to the left, and a short lean-to at the rear of the right-hand open bay.
Inside the larger barn, there is a high brick base, jowled posts with arched braces supporting cambered tie beams, double butt purlins with angled struts and collars to the principals, and curved windbraces. The walling includes studding, mid-rails, and tension braces. The adjoining five-bay barn features large central doors along with smaller lower and loft doors, and has high brick walling at the rear. Its interior also includes jowled posts with arched braces to cambered tie beams, as well as single butt purlins, angled struts, and collars to the principals.
