Description

Number 43 on Hockerill Street is a 17th-century building that was formerly an inn. The exterior has been significantly restored in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly when the corner was removed for road widening. It features an old red tile roof and is two storeys tall. The first floor of the south elevation facing the street retains some original timber framing. There is one old mullioned 3-light window and one 19th-century sash window. The ground floor has been modernized for a shop. Inside, the building has heavy, moulded oak ceiling beams on both floors. This property is included for its group value.
