Description

Nos. 1 and 5 London Road comprise a former Coach and Horses Inn, dating to the early 19th century, with an earlier 18th-century range attached. The building is constructed of yellow stock brick with a slate roof. The front features a two-storey, bowed corner section. A central door is set within a shallow projection flanked by shallow pilasters, and there are three sash windows on the first floor. Extending south is the older 18th-century range, which is plastered and has an old red tile roof. The 18th-century range features a door with fluted pilasters and three sash windows on the first floor. A modillioned cornice runs along the top of the building, continuing over one window of No. 5, where a single 18th-century sash window remains. The building is included on the list for its group value.
