Description

Two adjoining houses, likely dating from the 18th century or earlier. They are timber-framed, with the upper floor of number 3 plastered, and the rest of the exterior white weatherboarded. The western end of number 3 is concealed by a tall flint wall that screens it from the garden of The White House. The roof is covered with old red tiles and is hipped at the west. Number 3 has two-light flush casement windows with small panes on the first floor, and three similar fixed windows on the ground floor, each with a continuous drip board. A flat hood is supported by brackets over the front door. Number 5 has two two-light flush leaded casement windows on the first floor, and two two-light windows with small panes on the ground floor. The front door is six-panel raised and fielded, with a flat hood supported by pierced brackets. The houses form a picturesque grouping.
