Description
No. 12 Baldock Street is a house that has been converted into a ground floor shop. It dates from the 16th century or earlier and features a timber-framed structure that was altered in the 19th century. The exterior has a plaster facing with some remnants of old pargetting, a moulded cornice, and an old tiled roof topped with a red brick chimneystack. The building stands two storeys tall, with the first floor displaying three modern flush set windows that have opening upper lights and divided lower casements. These windows are framed by moulded architraves and cornices, which create breaks in the wall cornice. The first floor also has a partial underbuilding supporting a continuous jetty. The ground floor shop features windows with central mullions, cut console brackets above, and a fascia along the bressumer, along with twin central modern glazed doors. The rear elevation has a gabled design with an old tiled roof and a Welsh slated lean-to on the right side, adjacent to No. 14.
