Description

Holly Bush Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It originated as a late medieval open-hall house and features a late 17th-century central chimney and crosswing, along with a late 18th-century parallel west crosswing. The building underwent brick casing and renovation in the early 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and cased in red brick, with some random blue bricks, and the late 18th-century crosswing is decorated with blue headers. The roofs are steep and covered with old red tiles, featuring overhanging verges.

The house has an asymmetrical design with 2 storeys and an attic on the west part and 1½ storeys on the east part, forming a T-plan that faces south. The west part has two gables, while the east part has two gabled dormers at the eaves. There is a projecting porch with a catslide roof in the middle of the façade. The building has four windows, which are flush casement windows with leaded glazing. A large cruciform brick chimney with a corbelled cap is prominent, along with a smaller later chimney on the east gable.

Inside, there is a good early 18th-century panelled room to the west of the stack, featuring filleted ovolo moulding on the large panels and a fire surround with a reeded keystone. The layout follows a lobby-entry plan with a staircase rising behind the stack from the east room, which serves as a hall and kitchen.
