Description
Numbers 15, 17 (Pigtle Cottage), and 18 are a group of four houses, now functioning as three, built in the 18th century and linked together in the 20th century. They are constructed of red brick, which is painted, and feature red tile roofs. The first floor of the western section has dark weatherboarding. The houses are arranged in two blocks at right angles to each other, now connected.
Each house is two storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The inner windows are three-lights, while the outer ones are two-lights. The windows are wooden Yorkshire sliding casements with lattice leaded glazing and segmental arches. Originally, there were doors under the outer windows, but three of these have been blocked or converted into windows. There are battened double doors in the link between the houses. The two-light first floor windows facing the lane have a dummy light to make them appear as three-light windows from the outside. The internal partitions are timber strapped, and the chamfered cross-beams have chamfer stops to accommodate a staircase on the side wall facing the lane. This building is included for its group value.
