Description

The barn at Six Tunnels Farm, located 20 meters north of the house, dates back to the early 17th century. It features a timber frame, with walls and roof covered in corrugated sheeting, while the end gables are finished with dark weatherboarding. This tall, eight-bay double barn faces north and includes a surviving gabled porch on the north side, positioned at the third bay from the east. It is likely that there was another porch at the third bay from the west end. The barn showcases jowled posts, mid-height rails that are in-line, straight braces to the wallplates, squint-butted scarf joints in the wallplates, straight braces to the tie-beams, and a clasped-purlin roof supported by inclined straight queen-post trusses with straight wind-braces.
