Description
The war memorial at Nash Mills was constructed shortly after the end of World War I and is situated within a maintained garden. It features a brick and stone base with a rectangular metal plaque set in carved stone, attached to a small brick wall. The plaque has an arched top and depicts a coat of arms within a wreath, with the inscription: "To the eternal honour and undying memory of the gallant men of the firm of John Dickinson and Co. who gave their lives for their country in the Great War 1914-1918." Above this, an additional inscription reads: "To the glory of Nash Mills Men who gave their lives in the World War 1939-1945." Below, there is a list of 213 names arranged by the site where these individuals worked.
This memorial serves as an important historical testament to the men who worked for Dickinson's at various sites in England and abroad. It is architecturally distinct and commemorates the fallen from two world wars, making it a fitting tribute deserving of national recognition.
