Description
The Cottage Building at Dickinson's Mill is an 18th century or earlier cottage that has been significantly altered and is currently used as offices. It is part of a larger block that was originally a paper mill, which was converted from a corn mill in the 18th century. The building was purchased by Dickinson in 1809 and supplied cartridge paper for the British army during the Napoleonic Wars. The ground floor is made of whitewashed brick, while the first floor features vertical boarding on a timber frame. The roof is tiled and the building has two storeys. The first floor includes two lattice casement windows and five casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has four small windows and two 19th century sash bay windows with pentice roofs. The building is listed partly for its historical interest.
