Description
Lock House No. 68 is a canal lock keeper's house dating from the early 19th century, built for the Grand Junction Canal Company, which became the Grand Union Canal through amalgamation in 1929. The house is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a hipped slate roof. It is two storeys tall and two windows wide, facing east. The upper windows are small, with recessed sashes that have three-over-three panes and segmental arches. To the left of the door is a taller window of a similar style. On the right, there is a canted bay window with sash windows that have two-over-two panes. The half-glazed panelled door has been renewed. The house is positioned next to the lock, with a half storey below the level of the lock walkway due to the embankment, and it has a rear extension on the flat.
