Description
The Eagle Public House, along with the adjoining garage to No. 129, is an inn that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made to the middle part in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features steep old red tile roofs. The northern range is roughcast and continues west as a timber-framed structure that now serves as the garage for No. 129; this may be an older timber-framed range that was originally either domestic or used for stables.
The building has a long, irregular T-shaped plan and is two storeys high, set into a slope at the rear. It faces east. The middle section has a roughcast first floor with two 3-light small pane casement windows. The ground floor features segmental arches above 2-light small pane casements and a half-glazed central door. There is a recessed porch on the right side with a wooden corner column. The projecting northern wing has two windows and a large wrought iron bracket for a sign.
On the east gable end, there are three steps leading to a 4-panel flush beaded door, with a 3-light flush casement window to the right under a segmental arch and a similar 2-light casement window above. The northern side has an external chimney and an outshut with its own chimney. The roughcast section includes a 3-light casement window on the first floor.
