Description
83 and 85 High Street are a pair of buildings dating from the 17th century, significantly altered in the mid-19th century, forming a five-window range. The buildings are constructed of yellow stock brick with stucco dressings, and have a low slate roof. They are three storeys high, with sash windows on the first and second floors featuring margin lights and moulded surrounds. A gauged, segmental-arch coach entrance is located on the north side of the building. The eaves are plain and continuous. Modern shops occupy the ground floor. Inside number 83, there are tall ground floor beams with an ovolo moulding. The building formerly served as an inn. It is included on the list for group value.
