Description

The Cedars Park Wall and fragment of Theobalds Palace, located north of The Cedars Lodge, is a structure dating from the 16th or early 17th century. It is built of red brick and stands about two and a half metres high and 60 metres long. The wall features two large semicircular recesses; the eastern recess is made of 19th century yellow stock brick and includes angle piers and stone coping. The western recess has a wall on its southern side that connects at right angles to a fragment of the southwest corner of Theobalds Palace. The northern elevation of this fragment includes a blocked 4-centre arch window with two stone mullions. The southern elevation displays the inner angle of an early 17th century stone arch, which is topped by a roundel and entablature, though it is broken off on the western and southern return sides.
