Description
This garden ornament, located 40 metres west of Lea Hall, is a former window tracery from a church, likely dating from the 14th century. It is made of limestone and features large rubble stone abutments on both sides. The tracery consists of five cinquefoiled lights that intersect to form two sub arches.
Originally, this window tracery was part of the south transept window of St. Augustine's Church in Hedon, East Yorkshire. During the church's restoration by George Edmund Street between 1868 and 1877, the window was removed. It was later acquired by Colonel Lambert White, who installed it in the grounds of his home, Lambert House, in Hedon. In 1931, it was relocated to its current site by one of Colonel Lambert White's sons, along with other items.
