Description
The Pavilion is a house dating from the late 15th century to the early 16th century, which was restored as a pavilion in 1933. It has two storeys and features a plain red tile roof. The building includes a projecting weatherboarded jettied crosswing and a small lean-to on the left side. It is timber framed and plastered, with a three-window range of modern casements on the left and three more on the crosswing. There are two plank and muntin doors and three red brick chimney stacks, one from the mid-16th century and another from the late 16th century, both of which have original fireplaces. Inside, there are several painted plaster panels from around 1600. The crosswing has arched braces to cambered tie beams and a two-armed crownpost roof. The main frame and collar purlin are stop-chamfered and were rebuilt in the mid-16th century, featuring a 16th-century arched brick fireplace along with moulded bridging and floor joists. There is a 17th-century stair tower with original 17th-century replaced panelling and a door beneath the stairs, as well as 16th and 17th-century paving slabs.
