Description
The United Reformed Chapel, built in 1833, is a two-storey structure located on Braintree Road in Felsted. It features a grey slate roof with a gable at the front and is constructed from gault brick at the front and red brick on the sides and rear. The chapel is designed in the Gothic style and showcases fine brickwork.
Symmetrically placed on either side of the building are four decorative two-stage arrowhead buttresses. There are two gabled, enclosed porches on the right and left, each with parapets that match the main gabled parapet, which has bonded and dentilled detailing and flat sides. The entrance consists of two panelled doors adorned with Gothic-head mouldings and stone drip hoods above.
The ground floor features six flat-headed windows, each with three lights and Gothic glazing, along with flat stone drip hoods. The first floor has two sets of three-light windows and one set of two-light windows, all with Gothic heads and matching drip hoods. At the apex, there is a tiny four-light lancet window and an arrowhead finial crowning the parapet apex.
