Description

Lawsells Rose Cottage is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating back to the 15th century or earlier, with subsequent additions and alterations. It originally comprised a central crosswing, with wings extending to the left and right. The building is two storeys high, or two storeys and an attic, with a single-storey section on the left wing. It has plain red tiled roofs. The house is timber framed and plastered, featuring various leaded casement windows. A two-light door is located on the left side, beneath a flat canopy supported by brackets. A further original, nail-studded nine-panel door is situated on the right side, also with a flat canopy and brackets. A fine original chimney stack is present on the central crosswing, featuring a square base and four attached octagonal shafts. It is believed that the house contains an original staircase with turned balusters.
